Thread: 8" wheel on a Tormek/Jet?
Post: Re: 8" wheel on a Tormek/Jet?
I don't think that a smaller wheel will allow you to find the balance point any easier. Hollow ground is always hollow, no matter if the hollow is slight (10" wheel) or pronounced (5" wheel). It is ... |

Thread: Waterstone Glazing
Post: Re: Waterstone Glazing
I've often wondered if jojoba or the camelia oil are leaving gummy black marks on my stones. I've found it laps off easily, but will end up on the lapping plate as well. |

CBN on a tormek type tool isn't unheard of (http://imaokguy.blogspot.com/2015/12/more-on-cbn-wheel.html). |

Thread: staked saw bench questions
Post: Re: staked saw bench questions
St. Roy just did a staked chair build that you might want to watch. (http://www.pbs.org/video/2365554510/) He is using "about" a 1:4 ratio, and insetting the legs 2" - basically enough that they won'... |

Thread: Grinding Brass or Bronze
Post: Re: Grinding Brass or Bronze
I'd try and take it on by hand if it were mine, assuming you don't have a ton of money sunk in it. Files and flattened sanding belts are slow, but I bet you could get it. |

You can get dead blows that weigh as little as 10 oz (https://store.snapon.com/Compact-Slimline-Hammer-Dead-Blow-Slimline-10-oz--P642578.aspx). |

Oh, sorry for the mystery. It's the medium shoulder plane. I had almost everything in my cart when it first posted, and narrowed it all the way down to this one. |

Anyone ever try fitting the LN blade in a Stanley 48? For $40 I think that could really tune up mine, but only if it fits /ssl_proxy.php?url=/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowwink.gif |

I think it could be redwood, but I don't have much to back that up on. I've got some redwood that has similar graining, and it seems more dense than WRC. |
