Right along this area.  This was just some scraps.  I got this lathe with the idea to use it to turn some round boards.  I've done a lot of boards in the last couple years and people really like them....

I just pick the booger out and go on. You'll be surprised with how big it actually is. It can take a few thumps or flings to get it ff your finger too.

There is a slight blemish in one of the joints. Hardly noticeable in person but the pic shows it. They buyer didn't care and again, it would have all gone onto the scrap bin so why not.

You can make a sled for a band saw or table saw that will hold it and let it pass by the blade. Use some shims if needed. Once you have one or two sides flat, the rest will follow.

That way oil is for metal lathes, very different than wood lathes.
