Thanks for the note about the quarantine zones. All of this is taking place in central Iowa. I will look into any local issues about quarantine or diseases.

We are still working on logistics. We will have a trailer with a winch. And a tractor on the offloading end. One of the logs is about 9 feet and is more than 24 inches diameter.

Tom, thanks for posting that. When you hone on the tormek, do you freehand it or use the jig?  Also, do you use the tormek compound or something else?  The tormek compound always seems so dry.

Timberwolf, thanks for posting that video.  I like the horizontal approach much more. My 1x42 is the old Mead / Belsaw type.  I might look into reconfiguring it for horizontal, otherwise I suppose ...

The idea I had in mind for using the belt grinder with leather belt was to approach it from the front - with the belt moving downward.  BUT I would have to place the blade against the belt so it trail...
