FWIW We have a side by side KitchenAid made by Whirlpool. Your symptoms sound exactly like our issue two years ago and it ended up being the ice auger motor. It buzzed but no joy. Got a replacement...

Well a couple years ago I cheaped out and got the $10 variety from Lowes, Marshalltown brand. It sucks.   Hopefully it was the last time I'll ever have to use one.

Meant to add...not sure where you live but if geographical logical consider heated floors. Relatively inexepensive when looking at the entire budget.
