You may be thinking about European Beech. European beech is much more stable than American beech. European beech has the reputation of being one of the "great wigglers". |

Be careful. Smooth finishes are very slippery. Particularly so if you are wearing socks. I would suggest a floor finish. They tend to be formulated to be less slippery. |

My handsrews are treated with an oil/varnish mixture. [br][br]Easy to apply and easy to renew. You can apply a coat of wax so that any adhesive that drips onto the clamps can be easily removed. |

Bar Keepers may not have a high a percentage of oxalic acid as straight oxalic acid. You may have to use more or use multiple applications. |
