Even with short boards it's really nice to have the extensions. I can sand a lot more boards quicker with them. It give me time to be both the "feeder, and the "outfeeder handler".

I had an older 16" powermatic planer on a heavy duty stand with wheels. I think it weighted over a thousand pounds. The wheels didn't have any brakes but it stayed in place by itself.

I just realized that my unifence was 52" - 12". The previous owner pruned a foot off of it and then wanted a longer one. I got a good deal on it, I still have a router on it, and it works in my base...
