The top is 15” wide, 1” thick and 7-1/2’ long attached to the aprons with homemade wood buttons.

You could use wooden buttons or figure 8 clips and plug the pocket holes. |

Stupid question but isn’t it less expensive to make these using 1”X rather than ripping a 5”X5” posts?
Or, is your overall thickness greater than that and closer to 1-1/2”? |

What happened such that you have paint where you want bare wood for good gluing?
I’ve used Lexel 6000 in places where no other adhesive would hold.
However, it’s a mess and hard to clean up too. |

Gotta agree with John on this.
However, if you’re hellbent on doing a thousand halflap joints, look up Router dado jig.
There’s lots and lots of videos and free guides.
Plan on doing lots of year... |
