Not the same Howard.  Howard's Butcher Block Oil says it's mineral oil, 12 oz. for $15 or so including shipping. Mineral oil at the grocery store is probably $5 or less for 16 oz. Just get food ...

I' made John's mortising jig and use it quite a bit. I posted here yesterday about the wall unit I just finished. It made quick work....here are the eight door frames.

At first I thought it had to be an ordering or shipping error. But the OP says it is maple?  Don't think I've ever seen knotty maple crown unless it was a custom order.

We got some like that from Costco or Sams a while back. Useful to sketch out full size drawings also. The paper I have has pretty accurate 1" markings.

Not that I know much more now, but when I made my first projects decades ago, many of them were simply finished with Minwax oil based poly. That's the amber hue I am aiming for.
