I do not comment as often as I should in these threads, but I really appreciate the creativity and humor that goes into your choices in these patches. I hope the patrons of your guild do as well. It...

Post: RE: Miter saw blade

The Kapex has excellent dust collection for a miter saw. It is not magic. But it is better at dust collection than any other compound miter I've used. Frankly, the combination of cheapest and bes...

'Booked up' being the forum software replacement for what I thought would surely be a safer euphemism than what I first intended. Also, somehow it became 'rebranding' rather than re--surfacing.

Rocky Mountain Sharp Shop is an industrial sharpening service by me in CO. They can do a lot more than sharpening, to include tooth repair, flattening, straightening, and assorted stress analysis. Whe...

Post: RE: My newest set of chisels

I have been using the infamous Aldi chisels, which I heard about on Woodnet, since 2015. And I unabashedly love them. Kept sharp, they do the job I need every time, and they are cheap enough that I ...

Post: RE: Festool Kapex or Makita LS1019L?

The Kapex is about as accurate as a compound miter is going to get. The lockup mechanism is tight at the detents and has no play I can detect, and the friction lock-up at the non-detent positions is ...

Post: RE: Festool Kapex or Makita LS1019L?

I am absolutely thrilled to death with my Kapex three years in. Zero regrets. However I kept my Dewalt for construction lumber purposes. My Kapex lives mostly against my shop wall, and doesn't go ...

I've got a Forrest Dado King that leaves bat wings. When such things matter, I run my dadoes a little shallow and then use a router plane to clean them up. No experience with the Dadonator, but like...

I used two pieces of melamine shelf board screwed and glued together for years. Cheap, fast, and effective. I've moved on to Festool, but I am bought into their whole system. If I were to do it agai...

I have one on my Sawstop, and wish I'd done it years ago. There's no easy mounting option for my Hammer planer or I'd put one on it, too.

I used to have a mix of Dewalt, Ridgid, and Craftsman battery tools, with a sprinkling of Makita in the mix. Drills from all four. I switched to Milwaukee about a decade back, and liked it enough to a...

How thick a top are you looking at? If you are going to build with 3/4 ply I would be hesitant to weaken the top by recessing t-track. Once you get to an inch and a half of thickness, then the struct...

I'd probably clamp the straightest 2x4 I had to it and do it with a circular saw. If it had to be done on the table saw, I'd screw said 2x4 into the cupped ends to run across the fence as a reference.
