Post: RE: Older Sandvik scraper. Can't raise a burr

That's really interesting, it's a Sandvik 475.  When I googled that, I found this at Highland woodworking: Quote: -- "The Sandvik Scraper" is the original card scraper that's long been famous in w...

Post: RE: Older Sandvik scraper. Can't raise a burr

I used a 1200 diamond stone on all three sides to a pretty good finish. Then I used the accu-burr as instructed. Maybe I should take it to the 200 grit stone and get rid of some of the edge.  Not sure...

Post: Older Sandvik scraper. Can't raise a burr

I was having trouble raising a burr on any of my scrapers so I got a Union Accu-burr.  It works great on all of my scrapers other than the sandvik.  Now I'm wondering if they understood the assignment...

Post: RE: If I need battery powered…

I have a dewalt and the newer Milwaukee saw. The Milwaukee is much better, even has a thick blade on it whereas I have to use a thin kerf on the dewalt.  HD has the Milwaukee on sale with a 8ah batter...

There's no way I would have put central air in this place.  It takes up a lot of room, and space is tight.  Running ducting through the attic is going to waste energy unless you find a really amazing ...

Post: RE: DeWalt 18v to 20v adapter?

I believe there have been threads about the adapters on this site.  Dewalt put some limitations on their own adapter as far as what tools they could be used with.  IIRC, that was because of voltage or...

Post: RE: Stanley #8 Blades & Tote Question

I don't have a huge collection of planes, unlike some people.  More than I need, that's for sure.  I have never seen a chip breaker that lost its spring, but I have seen one that was ground crooked wh...

I really want to try a Lake Erie Toolworks blade. But if you're looking for cheap, that ain't it. And they don't sell chipbreakers. I have avoided Hock blades because of the looks. Which is weird, I ...

Fine Woodworking sent me a promotional email about this company.  Since Rob Lee had a fit about the Katz-Moses router plane, I'm pretty sure his reaction to these planes isn't going to be positive. h...

I remember seeing castings at Delta just sitting outside.  They get cleaned up later, no reason to fight the rust. Melancholy thought.

The way I'm interpreting those studs, you may end up cutting into the perpendicular adjoining wall cavity.  Then it becomes a real mess. I think it makes sense to get a sheet metal mechanic to modify ...
