Ceiling light fixture question

I'm installing a recessed LED light in a walk-in closet. I'm using a new construction type of housing. It telescopes to match the ceiling thickness, which is nice. My question: is it supposed to lock down somehow? Or does it just rely on friction from the bent metal tab to keep from creeping downwards under the weight of the light? This model doesn't come with screws through the side.

A reference or part number for the fixture you have would be helpful.

Sounds like a can light. If it's a remodel can it has 3 or 4 black spring steel clips that you push up from the inside with a screwdriver and they clamp to the drywall.

If I found the right installation instructions this should take care of it.

Step 4. When installing in drywall, cut
appropriate sized hole.* After installing drywall,
if necessary, adjust fixture for ceiling thickness
by loosening hex screws that attach the round
housing to the plaster frame (Fig. 3).
