I came across this gem earlier this week, its a Stanley #617, very crisp, very nice. Two gear drive, heavy duty wheel, very robust; handle tight, side chef's hat is present, and the chuck is the tightest I've seen, this can hold a wire bit securely, check out the pic. Only apology is a hang hole drilled in the main handle, otherwise, in excellent condition. Here's what the 1953 Stanley Catalog had to say about this drill:
