I knew I had some in the boneyard somewhere.
They look a little sad. Need some cleaning.
So I got out the Simple Green and then called Mr Scotchbrite into action.
Finished them off with a little paste wax. Into the file drawer they go--ready for service.

Yea but now you have to buy more files and fill them.
Then make another holder and hang them up.
Out of wall space? Have to ad on to the shop now.

A dowel is work. And, expensive.
A tree branch implies you intend to keep the file well into several afterlives.
A tree branch says I am "hillbilly".
Skrooz-on means: buy three, or get the wrong size; and 'go back', buy more.
Skrooz-on means buy something else to make the effort worthwhile. The three dollar handle becomes $20, or much more.
I just get a roll of masking tape (the oldest) and build up a comfortable blob.
A blob of tape is "son-of-hillbilly".

Cool Hillbilly. Galoot might be better.
Point being, a tape user might not have access to traditional branches Pappy (Tutor) used.
