I went trout fishing at my buddy's cabin in upstate NY, been enjoying his hospitality for years, and I'm the designated carpenter, fixing things that went awry over the winter, so I built me a traveling tool chest, and packed it with tools, and it is heavy. Over the last 3 years, I've never used the #4 I had in there, the #5 Jack did all that was needed, and this year I took out a few tools to lighten the load, this #4 being one of them, so it was one of my personal users. I'm going to replace it with a woodie or transitional to save weight, so this one has to go to someone who will put it to good use as I've got 3 others (when you rust hunt, you keep the nice ones for yourself!).
So, here's one of the "nice" ones, a prewar Type 16 Stanley #4, full iron, absolutely zero apologies; good wood, 100% japanning, lever cap has 100% nickeling, no rust, sole, mouth and cheeks excellent, as I recall when I bought it they just might have used it once or twice and put in on a shelf where I found it. Anyway, they don't come much better than this in pre-war #4s. Works like it should, I gave it a quick sharpening and it produced. Totally crisp and that's amazing for a plane that is over 3/4+ century old. Pics tell the story.
First PM with an unequivocal "I'll take it" gets priority; I don't have paypal, so payment by USPS money order please unless I know you from the forum, then checks are ok. $55 plus shipping. Include your shipping address in the PM so I can print up mailing labels and quote shipping. Truly vintage #4s this nice don't come along all the time, just sayin'.......
