I was given some Oak pen blanks from a Oak tree that one of the presidents planted along time ago and I am looking forward to making pens from it.

I would LOVE to have several pieces of that to turn a few bowls or platters or boxes out of.

Yep and that is exactly what they have done..They have taken suckers and they are going to be planted..So it is still the original tree...seeds from the tree would only be 50% related to the original.
