Lee Valley has a lamp bushing in 3/4" and 20mm sizes to mount task lights to your bench or a table. Cheap too!

Thanks for the heads up. I'm heading to Ikea tomorrow so I'll pick up a lamp and then order one of the bushings from Lee Valley.

My favorite task light is the Ikea
Jansjo. I have them on my bandsaw and drillpress, and as reading lights at the head of the bed (which is not in the shop.)
The bases on mine are different from the link above. They clamp to the machines, like
this.
