What is it?

Garage sale find.  Owner had no idea what it was.  Large handle, blade got fairly thin at the end, but not sharp. Almost looks handmade, if it was there was some craftmanship.   Someone told owner it had to do with logging.  I paid the curiosity price of $15.00 for a box containing this, a nail puller, smaller pipe wrench, large turn screw (I think), and an auger bit with wooden handle.

BTW, handle is pretty dry, should I coat it with something like Linseed Oil?

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I wouldn't have guessed that. It kind of reminded me of an old tool I have for removing sod. This might have to go to ebay. Like I said I paid the curiosity price. I probably won't tell my 9 year old, she is kind of into horses right not. We won't be getting one.

I also got a nice all wood handscrew with the deal. I have one or two similar to it, probably should relieve my shop of them also.

Thanks again
