Correctly sized Tapcons can be used for vertical, but not in one with vibration! If you can go through, then all-thread, w/min. of 3/8" dia., along with large fender washers.
My plant went through an OSHA visit, citations were not many, but costly ($26,000). Several presses had guarding open and was very legitimate, but several were way out there, such as "tag out/lock out", which is basically good, but, like anything, government took it way too far. The regional director was excellent to work with, but the young inspectors were trying to make their name.
I went several steps beyond, after settling, and contracted an outside service to visit each week, and make OSHA styled inspections.
