Somewhat related, I just did an experiment last night with some scrap. Glued a small piece, used Titebond III, about 2 inches long, of ebony to cherry, grain matched - long to long, and after about 18 hours tried to pull it apart. The cherry wood snapped, glue line was completely intact. No special treatment to remove oils.
