"Difficult Grain"?
#3
One hears that term a lot on some sites...sometimes they claim ONLY a $400 smoothing plane can work on it...or, some fancy machine?
Well....here are 4 Ash boards to consider...

These four are 3/4" x 6" x 4'....seller had run them threw his planer to get from 4/4 down to ALMOST 3/4" thick...
Other faces of the 4?

Handsome devils, aren't they?  $0.80bft Ash, BTW...

This MIGHT be a bit of "FUN"..
Stay tuned...

Well, took about an hour of cross cutting, and ripping, went from about 8 bft down to about half of that...

The "Good"...

These are all 3-1/2" wide..by ~3/4" thick...

Might glue these up into a panel?  Have a DVD Cabinet Project that will need a raised panel for it'd door

The "Bad"

Was able to cut out the worst sections but...

Some areas were a bit too far gone...

And then, there was The Ugly...

That even Tuco the Rat would not like..

The board this "Thing"is laying on?

The other half of this plank?

Had a few "Issues"....

Shop is closed, today ( that Monday thing)  have taken a few measurements for the new DVD Cabinet...case will use these 3 planks..

Same tree, Ash....

Stay tuned...
