Wooden Plane Terminology Question

I'm looking at the "Illustrated list of Planes, Plane Irons"
Sandusky Tool Co. reprint from Astral Press.

In the Jack Plane listing on page 6 Invoice no. 14
it lists "Double Iron, best Cast Steel, with start and handle bolt"

Can someone please tell me what a "start" is, and also what a
"handle bolt" is.

A start is a little iron or lignum button at the toe of the plane that you'd strike with a hammer to release the blade.

I think the handle bolt is a reinforcing bolt that was put down through the tote to strengthen it.

As there was I getting excited as I imagined the first hand powered plane with a start button instead of a crank.
