I bought this about a year ago to use as a carving vise because of its small size and adjustability, but ended up buying a Wilton Powr-Arm shortly after. Since this vise isn't getting the use it deserves, it is being offered up for adoption.
It is a Pinchbug vise made by Akron Wrench and Vise Company. It has 2 1/4" width jaws, with replaceable jaw pads. The original paint color appears to be a silvery-bronze. There are some remnants of burgundy paint in places, but I cannot tell if these are from a repaint that later flaked off or paint splatters to which many old tools are subjected.
The vise body can be attached directly to the mounting post where the jaws are vertical and can be pivoted around the post to any desired angle. It can also be attached to the 90 degree bracket, which again can be pivoted to any angle. The vise itself can also be pivoted about 30 degrees or so.
All parts are present and in good condition. It could use a thorough cleaning as the screw is a little bit sticky. There are a few dents in the body where a previous owner must have struck it with a tool. There are no cracks or chips that I can see.
I have never seen another vise like this and only one has sold on eBay in the last year or so. Bidding ended at $126 on that one.
I'd like $80 for this cool little vise. PayPal preferred. It should fit in a flat rate box, so shipping will be reasonable.
The 'bug has been spoken for. Thanks!
