It is imperative that the hollow and round match each other. I think a matched set of No 6s or No 8s depending on the size you wish. Check them out and if needed fix before using.

Also, I like the Hollow and Round techniques by Matt Bickford more than the ones by Bill Anderson. I have both videos.

IMO, Matt uses rabbets first to get better consistent results.  Bill uses a curved gouge that I feel a beginner would have problems with, but a hand-made scratch stock could fix things if you do not go too far.  Both techniques can get you there.

I cover rule joint in an article, see page 87 of my second book.

A knuckle joint was described in the following article.

A pair of router cutter bits were used instead of moulding planes.
