I used a thin kerf on my CMS one time years ago. First time I tried it on a 1.5" African blackwood square. It deflected badly so that I deemed it to be unreliable for very hard woods. Put it back in the packaging and took it back. Have only used standard kerf since then.

Get a full size blade for segments. You could try sharpening it but it still may deflect. You can use a disc sander to square them up but it's a pain.

I use the thin kerf for the same reasons, I also use stabilizers. Have not noticed any problems when the blade was sharp.
