Hey, This Disston belonged to my wifes Grandpa and it was given to me. Can anyone tell me which model it is? It has an 8 in the blade under the handle. Thanks so much!
Eli
Although I am an owner of more than a few Disston saws, I am no expert
at telling off hand what models they are. Others here, as you are probably
aware, are going to chime in with much better opinions.
I CAN tell you that the "8" below the handle refers to the number of teeth
per inch. 8 tpi, in this case.
AND by the way, welcome to WoodNet!!!

Thanks, I thought it might be a d-23 but I wasn't sure. All the D23's that I see have 1 medallion plus 4 screws. Mine has 1 Medallion plus 3 screws... Thanks for the help!
When Disston made a saw under 26" in length....they usually used one less bolt....IF the full-sized had 5, the "Panel saw" had 4. Same with the full sized saws like the D-8
If the Full sized saw only had 4 bolts....then the shorter saw would have 3, counting the medallion. The Panel saw handles tended to be a bit smaller, so less room for the "extra" bolt.
