diamond blade is the way to go.  I have taken this stuff out before, cut and pry out

I have a hammer drill with a chisel bit about 3" wide.  After I remove the tiles I am able to hammer slots down the edges of the studs and remove the lath and remaining mortar.  Most of the walls are done (except over the tub).  I now have to go back and remove the lath and nails from the studs.  That is proving to be time consuming. 

At any rate there is no Property-Brothers-pry-bar-and-a-tap tile removal.  And no "kick in the drywall" either.
