I haven't done it, but I've seen it before and I'd like to try.

Cannot find any recycled skate or snow boards in my area. Found a few places on line that sell recycled skate boards feel they are too expensive. Guess area where you live might improve chance of finding reasonable priced recycled boards.
If do a check for wholesale skate board decks have better luck buying quantity. Bare wood deck (plywood) made from either American or Canadian hard maple not that expensive. They come stained or have plastic coating for little more.
Think will put my desire for turning something from recycled skate or snow boards on hold!

Rebecca DeGroot does a lot of turning with them. She gets the old boards from skate board shops. She sells small blanks but they are pricey because turning boards into blanks is very labor intensive. Google her. She does some great work you can find her etsy and Instagram pages

Went to Rebecca’s ESTY.COM/Blanks not discounted her artistry, talents, or woodworking skills didn’t even put a dent in an iceberg and what can be done with old skate or snowboards. Certainly don’t think her prices out of line.

I Stopped looking at page 12 of recycled items for sale on ESTY

Goes back to availability of used skate or snow boards in your town. We had a city run skate park that is now closed. While have few stores in the county that sell boards, been told buyers recycle old boards. Hope you folks have better luck.
