My friend has a couple of camper type rocking chairs. They are fine except for the plastic armrests that have broken at the rear pivot point. The plastic just couldn't handle the stress. I made some maple armrests and I needed something to replace the fragile aluminum rivets that were used to hold them in place. Eventually, I managed to thread some 16d sinkers with an 8-32 die and that seemed to work. I don't know how long the fix will last, but I think it will be better than the plastic.
Now you know the rest of the story.
