Take it apart and start over. Another option is a cut nail or two.

Handle is dried out, soak it in a tub of water for a few days....let the wood swell up.

An old fart years ago told me to soak the head and mounted handle in anti-freeze for a couple of days. It works as long as the handle is not too loose.
