Greetings all, after a very extended break from the shop I'm getting back into it. Because of my asthma I need a good PAPR. Because of the hardware in my neck I just cant wear the my trend anymore. The 3M just isn't in the budget. I'm not that concerned with the impact part, just the weight and airflow. I wear glasses and have a beard so that's a factor.
I know this Peek gets pretty good reviews but were talking 3M money.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this peek system.

Any advice or budget friendly options would be appreciated.

no experience with the unit, but my first concern is how it could be paired with hearing protection

If you're not conc4rned with the helmet, take a look on the big auction site for the Versaflo TR-300N+-ECK. It's the healthcare industry version with a soft hood, Typically can find it for $400 +/- as surplus. Helmet can be added later if you change your mind. My total spend (with helmet) was just over $700 a few years ago. Since i use it in turning, and mostly for sanding--i could have easily have gotten away with just the ECK rig, but i'm fond of my forehead!!

That goes for me too Angus! Glad to see you back.

The turning forum here is pretty dead so maybe if you post some work others will join in. I've not turned very much lately but I'm hoping to get back into it myself.

Welcome back, Angus. Your turnings always were inspirational to me. I look forward to seeing new works.

The unit in nuisance air filter looks interesting. N95 equivalent is supposed to be good down to about 1micron particle size (IIRC). I would naively expect wood dust to be larger than that. I would add a magnet in a plastic bag under your grinder wheels to catch the very fine steel dust from sharpening.

Not telling you anything that you don't already know, but...
Remember that a dust protection system stops working when you take it off and dust off your clothes.
