ACME saw vise (SOLD)
#8
I am selling one of my ACME saw vises, ( I still have two ) This is the one I am currently using. It is the cast iron version. It is plenty heavy, so local pick up s the way to go. I originally had a machinist replace the handle with a steel handle and added a bearing in the pivot point as well as a new set screw, etc.. I dare say it has seen a hundred saws or more.
Smile I also had made a crude pivoting bracket for it to allow slope in both directions. Price? $500.00 for Woodnetters or members of Sawmill Creek. Just trying to lighten the load a bit. Too much "stuff" in this little shop of mine. IO am located in the Edwardsville, IL. area.

I have had a few people inquire about shipping this vise. I am currently looking into shipping it to a gentleman in Pa. who inquired first. This vise alone weighs approx. 60 lbs. Then add the weight of a crate I will have to build. I will up date after I get a chance to crate the vise, and weigh it again.
Thank you for your interest.

One day I'm going to regret being the first to respond to this post and not buying it. That is a sweet saw vice and a heck of a deal.

Big Grin Well I just finished sharpening about 10 saws on it, including 4 half backs. And yes, I will have one for sale soon. Some days I wish I didn't sharpen saws either.

though my hands are not working as they should, I would love to buy that vise.

Well, I have been looking at shipping via  ground to a state only about 800 miles away, for a customer and the estimate I came up with was over $200.00. The estimates are always lower than the actual cost. If I come across another aluminum vise, ( much lighter ) I will certainly keep you in mind. I have no doubt there are more of these somewhere out there, in someone's basement or barn, just collecting dust.
