I am making a small percussion block. It is @ 2" x 2" x 8". I have never made one before. This will be mounted on a Stomp Fiddle and will be struck with a drum stick.
I have some parts already cut out and only need final fitting before glue up. I am using hard maple for the bottom and ends, QS sycamore for the sides and either Mulberry or Peruvian walnut for the strike surface. I will be cutting a slot for sound on one or both of the sides. The bottom and ends are 3/8" think while the remaining pieces are @ 1/4" thick.
I can easily make the body out of one piece of maple or beech and hollow it out if that would be better.
Need some tips on making this percussion block.
