I've got a few worthy tools for folks who use them......
First up is a T17 Stanley #4 1/2; heavier castings typical of wartime planes; short iron, but enough meat left to do work, I've reset the bevel, flattened the back, and sharpened on the tormek and you can see how it performs. I also tuned the chipbreaker so it mates properly with the iron. 99% japanning, sole is dandy as well as the mouth, wood solid. All in all a really nice heavy smoother, if you don't have a 4 1/2, you don't know what you are missing. A very nice plane. Yours for $65 plus shipping, pics:
Next up is a Stanley #12 Scraper Plane; Sweetheart vintage, has a virtually full SW blade, good sole, works like it should, 80%+ japanning, I love the rosewood handle, which is solid, all in all a very nice user plane, keep your fingers from getting burned using a card scraper, buy this plane! Yours for $65 plus shipping, you won't regret it. Pics:
