Does shellac really go bad?

I've never had a can of Zinsser shellac of any kind go bad, but I've had two leak and make a real mess in my shop.  I by Sealcoat by the gallon.  Sometimes it's more than a year old before I use it up, but it's always been good.  I've had Amber that was over 2 years old and was still good.  I think lifespan might be related to the RH in people's shops.  Mine never goes above 60%.  I'm sure some folks shops can have much higher RH values at various times of the year and an open can of shellac probably absorbs a lot more moister, hastening it's demise.  

I've never mixed shellac from flakes.  Sealcoat is the best bargain there is when you consider cost, and you can tint it with Transtint dyes to any color of the rainbow.

Give it a try.  Mix what you need, always fresh.  There's a whole nother world of classic colors, hues, etc. in the world of shellac.  One of my favorite finishes.

The best price I found 2-3 years ago, and they're double the then cost of dewaxed flakes.
