There's been a few threads re; A.C.s lately. One I replied on, I commented that some mini-splits are installed without performing a pressure test and evacuation. What are your thoughts and/or experiences with this?

I think it's a good way to experience the fun of losing coolant.
But I guess in much of the world it's pretty common, they are meant to be installed by unskilled workers.

I have a regular AC unit that I installed myself. It came precharged and the line also were precharged. It has not lost any pressure and works good.

Historically, all those types of systems have proven to have higher than average incidence of problems. After almost 45 years of fixing them, I'll pass.
