So what kind of rivets do you use and where do you buy them?

Check at your local hardware store. Mine has copper and brass. The copper ones are technically "roves," used in wooden boatbuilding.

For my money and for quality sake, I always check out McMaster first and then go from there.

I recently restored an antique cedar chest and needed copper tacks. I was unable to find any locally.

I found Van Dyke's and ordered from them. They have quite an extensive list. Their prices, shipping and service was very good.
