A few months ago I posted a lengthy description about how I mounted the vice on my bench.
One poster mentioned that his vice racked.
Yesterday I noticed considerable racking while using the vice. Upon investigation, I found 2 of the 4 lag screws had almost completely backed out of their holes. These two screws also captured the alignment bushings, and one of them had wiggled out of it's bore, thus the racking I encountered.
Another few days and I guess the screws would have fallen to the floor, and with luck I might have had a clue.....
Never would I have guessed that a lag screw could loosen itself, but there it is.
Or, I was negligent in tightening them in the first place.
Quite possible, but the other two were tight so I doubt that I missed them.
In any case, the word to vice owners is, tighten your lags !
