Used Ridged 6" jointer

Does $250 sound like a good price on a 2011 Ridgid jointer ?
I've only seen a picture so far. It would be my first jointer. What issues should I be looking for ?

Assuming the jointer is in good condition, I'd say regardless of color it's worth $250. I sold my orange one last year for $300 and saw one recently on Nashville craigslist for $600 and it's gone.

This is a fairly high demand item. A SearchTempest search shows numerous Ridgid Jointers which have sold quickly. Here's a near new one:

That's far more information than you were asking for. The bottom line is that $250 seems to be a reasonable price. If the knives need to be replaced, see if the seller will knock $50 off the price.

By the way, the 6" Ridgid Jointer was my first jointer. I put a lot of lumber through mine with very good results. It's easy to recommend this one.

I don't think the color makes any difference. Some people like to think the older grey one is better for some reason but I have never seen any actual proof that is true.

At one point I would have said about $175 - 200 was fair but given how much higher the price is for a new one today compared to 5-10 years ago, I'd say $250 is not unreasonable if not very attractive unless its beat-up.

Doesn't matter what color though the grey ones are getting to be older. I have one of the grey planers and the orange were identical in every way. I suspect that the parts were probably made in China back when Emerson was building them. (Grey were emerson, orange all China)

The jointer and planers are and we're good machines though I don't like the design of the legs of the jointer.

BTDT more than once but sometimes it's not a bad thing that you lost out. However I have learned when I see something for a good deal in a store or swapmeet etc to just buy it cause if you don't you will regret it later.
