I posted a while back during the glue-up, but here's the finished product...
Our dining table is fairly small. If we have guests, it's too small. The route I chose is to make an auxiliary tabletop that attaches to the table. Edge-glued Borg 1x8s with a routed edge. If you look closely, you can see the plane marks from leveling it up.
Here's how I attached it...simple blocks/toggles screwed into the tabletop that catch the edge of the original tabletop.
