Here's a little build-along on the dough bowl. I'm determined that this won't be added to the "Unfinished Project List"!
The wood is storm-sourced Manitoba Maple or Box Elder. This specimen has some nice red streaks and some spalting as a bonus.
Removing bark with the old Greenlee drawknife:
Flattening the top and bottom with a #5, LA Jack, #6, and for fun I smoothed it with a bevel up smoother.
There is a LOT of material that needs to be removed, and this wood is pretty dry. I don't have an adze, so I used the drill press to speed things up.
Then it was grunt work with mallet and gouge.
And it's starting to look like a bowl. Next I'll tackle the outside shape.
