HI,
Looking for a handle for a Stanely #4. Here are a few pictures of my current handle and the plane bottom. Height 4 5/16".

Might also be interested in a matching knob. All depends on price. Not sure if the right one is even on there. The scew sits a little proud of the knob. wanted to
include a picture of the knob, but my phone just crapped out on me.

Thanks

ps. fixed the phone

Well do you want an original stanley rosewood tote(handle)?...or a new one made out of some other wood. There are guys who make really nice replacement ones. Original rosewood totes in good condition cost a lot...you can sometimes just buy another plane in bad shape but with a good tote and then sell the parts. Or someone here may have one for you. You can post want to buy in the classifieds.

Thanks. I think the original rosewood ones are going to be too expensive for me. I'll try the other forum.

Nothing wrong with either the tote or knob far as I can see.

A little sanding and a few coats of shellac they should look good.

If you persue new handles I would be interested in buying those.

The knob is in great shape.  The handle has a hole in it, from too much sanding. Wasn't sure how to repair  w/o it looking horrible.

Maybe I'll give it a try an see what happens. Can you shellac over tung oil ?
