Used to laugh at Roy when he marked the waste with his pencil. No longer do I consider it just for TV at my house.
Better to follow the leader than the pack. Less to step in.

I also mark my waste. I made that mistake a couple of times...

I've never done it, but I've come very close several times. Now I always mark the waste.

I'm notorious for sawing to the wrong side of a line...even if it's marked.
