At only 4' wide, it'll be like a storage tunnel, not a closet. Big waste of space.
Looks like the double doors open into it? If so, I would consider adding a wall to make the closet 8' or so long and open the rest up.
Add some shelving, use it as a tool crib.

rip out the entire wall. Or keep both ends as storage closets / DC / compressor rooms and open up the middle. A tool chest or bench behind the existing bench is very convenient for working. Walking into a long narrow closet is not.
They told me anybody could do it, but I showed them.

There is something to be said about a compressor, and the DC being in a quiet room, just make sure it's big enough for air flow around both of them. If you can cut down the size of the room, that works toward more shop space.
