were a bit skimpy.......either way overpriced, incomplete...or both....

Did pick a little "gem" in all that mess..
   
Patent date is from about FEB of 1899   Issued to a Mr. Chester L Britt.  
Cleaned it up, dug out my #70 for scale..
   
The old owners had replaced the OEM cutter with a piece of saw blade..
   
I think I can just re-grind a 45 degree bevel after I get a nice square edge.   Then add the burr, like on a Stanley #80?
   
Handle seems to be a fancy grained, light weight  wood of some sort.   It has a threaded rod on the end, that threads into the body. 
   
May give it a try someday?  Cost was just over $11 counting tax......
Show me a picture, I'll build a project from that

I must say, I enjoy your photography as much as your posts!   Your pictures look like they came out of about 1970 .... something about the tone and contrast .
