This plane is absolutely beautiful with very crisp lines. Cleaned & waxed with Alfie Shine, the iron also has been cleaned, sharpened, lapped, and honed to 8000 grit. Makes thin, curly shavings, and the profile that it should. The ray flecks on the blind side bevel have a great pop.
G F Wells is likely a dealer, while Joseph Gleave of Manchester (now Gleave Industrial Supply Specialists, still in existence) is to be guessed as the actual maker - placing it around 1833+. This is certainly a rare plane.
Rarity doesn't always equate to value, and generally #2 rounds don't command a lot of value, but with the condition of the plane, the strength of the stamp, and the ready-to-use status, this British plane is priced at $40.
