Anyone got a good source for 8" X 1" grinding wheels?
I can't afford Norton wheels, way too expensive.
I need some for sharpening my HSS tools.

McMaster-Carr, KBC Tools are known sources.

Try MSC.  I favor SiC disks, personally.
Better to follow the leader than the pack. Less to step in.

How much is too expensive?

 I would definitely pay for the quality for 8" of wheel spinning that fast in front of me.
