I helped my brother clean out an old garage and discovered two hand planes. This one and another wood jointer. This #4 looked to be in good condition in spite of the rust. However, the lever cap is broken
It’s a work in progress. On the iron I found “COMAR MFG CO made in New York”. So far I have all the loose metal parts cleaned up with a vinegar bath. The body is soaking now and the wood is up for rehab in the next few days. Unless I can find a replacement lever cap, this specimen will end up being a parts donor.
Do any of you know where I might find a replacement 2 inch lever cap at a reasonable price?
