Now Rob is offering free shipping if we spend $149 or more (wonder how they picked that number, and whether Tim Hortons was involved?). Bad enough that he tempts me to find $40 worth of things to get the free shipping, but now he wants me to find almost $150 of temptation? The man's devious as can be.

The threshold is a lot higher than Woodcraft's or Rockler's, both at $35 or something like that.

They have done this before, usually soon after the free/$40 period is over. The difference is they don't advertise the free/$149 on social media. In other words, I wouldn't assume this is the end of the free/$40 deals.

Agreed. Hey, shipping is expensive for a company to eat at $40 as a constant open ended offer, we can't expect that to be a standard deal. It would, however, be interesting if the $149 deal would become standard; but again, I don't mind doing what I can to support LV and make sure they are around to continue to offer great stuff and innovate even more great stuff - and to provide what I consider to be legendary customer service. I would note that returns ship back free, and that's also expensive (and impressive).

Each vendor has its own cost structure, and free shipping is a marketing measure, like any others, ads, discounts, etc.
Free shipping events at Woodcraft and Rocker are standing, not time limited.
I personally see free shipping without purchase threshold the future standard like free store pick up. Amazon drives the retail innovation...if it starts a free shipping policy, most others will follow. Remember the fancy safety features in luxury cars? They are now standard features in almost all new cars.
Free is not really free, of course. Vendors have to pass the costs somehow, just like the tariffs.

Hi -
This is a test of long term free shipping over $149..... we will still have the lower threshold events, with start and end dates - don't worry about that!
Of course - shipping is not free...it does get recovered in product prices... and we all recognize that. Boxes, labor, dunnage, and transportation are just some of the costs - there are many more behind the scenes. If we were to build shipping into the product costs - then we'd be burdening retail customers with prices that are higher than necessary... unless we had different prices in-store.... and what a mess would that be...
So - consider this an added option - and not a substitute for current practice!
Cheers -
Rob
PS -we already have a permanent "Festool orders over $40" ship for free" - which has been in place for ages
PPS - of course, rules are slightly different for Alaska, Hawaii etc...... where we would normally charge actual shipping, we reduce the actual by what a regular shipping would have been.... so everyone gets the same $ benefit (us socialist minded (and NBA champions) do things like that.....

Speaking of NBA, any special LVT deal to celebrate the Raptors' win in the works?

Well, but it seems it should be OK for a Canadian guy to cheer on another Canadian team that just lately beat a six-time champion team. Even if they play some game that doesn't require ice or funny-shaped sticks.
