Hi, guys

A friend of mine asked me to build a hope chest for his wife. He didn't have any idea what he wanted it to look like, nor did he have any preference as to wood, style, or finish. The only "help" he provided was her favorite color, and favorite flower...

This is what she's gonna get. I just hope she likes it....

The original rose did not turn out as planned.
Crazy What you see here is the second incarnation - which while not perfect, turned out considerably better. The stem & leaves are dyed veneer...

I love the way the finish brought out the cherry! I'm kinda proud of the end result - even if it's not perfect...

Zat from the Woodsmith plans from years ago, maybe a 25+ year ago issue? I built the same one.

It looks like a beautiful chest, but calling it a "hope chest" should make the husband pretty uncomfortable, no?
