Finally completed the project. I had applied the finish about 6 weeks ago – but had to sort some things out with the hardware supplier that took longer than I had expected. So here it is - the  completed Bombe chest.
For sure, the shaping and fitting the drawers was the most challenging aspect of the project. Scariest moment – drilling the holes in the drawer fronts (that I spent hours on) for the pulls!

Material:
·         Case work, drawer fronts back and bottom panels- ~ 85bf Genuine Mahogany (Irion Lumber Co -  https://irionlumber.com/)
·         Drawer sides, backs – Maple (MacBeath Hardwoods - https://www.macbeath.com/)
·         Drawer bottoms – Birch (The Home Depot - https://www.homedepot.com/)
·         Hardware –Hand Antiqued Chippendale Griffin Bail Pulls (House of Antique Hardware - https://www.houseofantiquehardware.com/ )

Finish:
·         Sealer - Emteck UltraSeal WB shellac
·         Top Coat - Emteck 2000 Semi-gloss WB varnish
(Target Coatings - https://www.targetcoatings.com/)

Started last summer and I estimate that I have at least have 250 hours on it.

A challenging project, which required some patience and thinking thru the design, milling and construction process. Hopefully others will be motivated to try one of these!

(Standing) APPLAUSE! really, really nice...something to be quite proud of.
I started with absolutely nothing. Now, thanks to years of hard work, careful planning, and perseverance, I find I still have most of it left.
